Port Douglas’ Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail is a 1.5km walk offering sweeping views of Four Mile Beach, the Coral Sea, Low Isles and Snapper Island. Starting at the northern end of Four Mile Beach, winding stairs leads you to the top of Flagstaff Hill and a viewing platform for 180 degree views of the Coral Sea. Don’t forget to stop along the way up the hill for amazing Four Mile Beach views.
The walking trail officially commences behind the viewing platform and takes you all the way down to Rex Smeal Park. There is an option of taking another trail (halfway along the main trail) that leads you up to the Flagstaff Hill Lookout where you can grab that iconic shot of Four Mile Beach. The walk concludes at Rex Smeal Park, another not to missed location with glorious ocean and mountain views. But don’t stop there……continue along through Market Park to view the Port Douglas Sugar Wharf and the little white chapel, St Mary’s by the Sea.
You can return on the trail back to Four Mile Beach, or if you would prefer to stay on the flat, meander down Macrossan Street for a well-earned coffee, ice-cream or icy cold beer!
